  • Dwarves - Elitist/Brute Force/Economist: The Dwarves have the best heavy infantry in the game bar none, with no cavalry and few archers.
  • For example, you can completely avert the Balrog's spawning in Moria if you kill the leader and heir of the Orcs of the Misty Mountains, thus eliminating the entire faction by turning all of their settlements neutral.

    This can be bypassed if you manage to kill the factions' leadership before attacking the city, through either open battle or assassination.

  • If you manage to seize a faction's capital city before pacifying the rest of their empire, a fairly large army consisting of late-game units with full armor upgrades will spawn in, take back the city, and then go ransack the rest of your empire.
  • Certain AI settlements will spawn reinforcements when attacked, discouraging opportunistic sieges with small/weak armies.
  • Most of their units are on-par with those of the Elves.
  • Arnor's army is basically Gondor on crack.

Just as another sparkle of info for you all is that this was primarily put together by King Kong, the man who gave us Stainless Steel 6.1, so you know straight away the quality and time has been put into this - something like 2 years worth of work. This mod was released only five days ago and still in its infancy - and to be honest it does require some unit re-balancing and a little fine tuning (but that will all get fixed in the 1st patch no doubt), however checking on that "other" forums visitor lists, TATW has been striking more interest than ETW has. After installing tonight, I can gladly say I no longer have any need to go spend 90 bucks on ETW for at least another 6 to 12 months. For those of you who have not seen or heard, Third Age Total War is a complete conversion of M2TW based on Lord of the Rings. I noticed nobody has made any mention of this mod yet so I thought I would share it you all.
